Berlou is ideally located to enjoy the natural beauty of the Haut Languedoc National Park. It is a small wine maker’s village surrounded by unspoilt countryside, vineyards and forests and is ideal for walking, hiking and mountain biking.

Although there aren’t any shops in Berlou, there is a lovely restaurant “Le Fait Tout” with a good reputation in the Village. In summer, they are also open for a drink on the terrace.

The bread van comes to the square just over the bridge in the mornings, where you can get your baguettes – listen for the honking of the horn or you’ll find the times written in the welcome book at the house.

There is of course a wine shop just as you enter the village. Also, Berlou has some independent winemakers, so you can pop along, knock on the door and ask…

Go for a walk from Berlou. Take a picnic with you, and you can come past the village museum on your way back. The local wine growers also organise a wine walk and tasting.

Berlou usually hosts a rather good “vide grenier” (flea market) around the village at least once a year.

There are great walks from the doorstep of each of our houses in Berlou and for the fit you can walk across to Roquebrun or Vieussan. Take water with you!

By car, Berlou is only 10 minutes from Saint-Chinian, which is also known for its wines and there are a choice of many restaurants, cafes and shops with the bustling Sunday market.

Cessenon sur Orb, also only 10 minutes from Berlou has is a mini-farm. Roquebrun (15 minutes), a beautiful historic village, which has a canoe / kayak, centre, art gallery, Mediterranean garden, cafes and restaurants, there are also a river beach. You can swim in the fresh water of the Orb. Gorges Heric and the Mediterranean coast are only 40 / 45 minutes away, making them both perfect for a morning or afternoon trip out.
